He trained in Durban achieving his Orthopaedic Fellowship of The Colleges of Medicine and then completed a Hand Fellowship under Professor Ulrich Mennen.
Roy moved to Canada in 1999 and practiced in Prince Albert Saskatchewan where he was the Head of Surgery. Whilst in Canada he completed his LMCC examinations. Roy gained further exposure to different styles of surgery by also visiting arthroplasty surgeons in India to further enhance his skills.
His broad experience at multiple centres of excellence gives him a wide practice scope and the ability to assist patients with a variety of complex problems.
Roy returned to Durban in 2005 as his family wanted to enjoy the Durban weather once more.
It was then that Roy founded Umhlanga Orthopaedic Surgeons in Mt Edgecombe Hospital and then Umhlanga Hospital. In 2015 the practice expanded further with offices opening at Gateway Hospital.
